After showing across various film festivals and gaining International acclaim 'The Nightingale of Tibet' a.k.a 'Drapchi', is one of the most powerful films made on Tibet in recent times.
The 'Nightingale of Tibet - Drapchi' is a musical biopic about the life of Opera singer Yiga Gyalnang, played by star Tibetan singer Namgyal Lhamo.
Set in the political hotbed that is modern Tibet where the present wreaks havoc over the traditional past and an uncertain future awaits all those who raise their voice in protest, Drapchi is the story of Yiga Gyalnang, a traditional Tibetan Opera singer who is abducted one summer morning and finds herself in near complete isolation in an underground/secret prison cell.
The movie follows the perilous journey of the singer as she escapes illegal detention in an underground Tibetan prison cell to make it across the border to Nepal taking with her spirituality, strength and Tibetan song and eventually to Europe where she finds international acclaim and success.
