It is a great gift to have His Holiness Sakya Trizin’s
presence in Melbourne for 5 days. The teachings, empowerments
and blessings His Holiness will bestow are a display of
His compassionate activity for the benefit of all.
His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin is one of the most revered
spiritual masters of Tibetan Buddhism. He is the supreme
head of the Sakya Tradition and is second only to His Holiness
the Dalai Lama. Born in Tibet, He is the patriarch of the
unbroken Khon lineage which dates back to 1073. His forefathers
were disciples of Padmasambhava who introduced esoteric
Buddhism to Tibet.
The Seat of the Sakya lineage is in Dehra Dun, India where
His Holiness has established the Sakya Centre, College,
Nunnery, Institute and Academy. There are twenty five Sakya
centres in Australia including two in Melbourne – Sakya
Choekhor Lhunpo and Jamchen Buddhist Centre.
Sakya Choekhor Lhunpo was created by His Holiness during
his visit in 1997 to represent the Sakya lineage. His Holiness
appointed Lama Konchok Choephel to be its resident teacher.
Jamchen Buddhist Centre was founded in 1999 by a group of
students of Lama Choedak Rinpoche who is the spiritual director
of the Centre. His Eminence Zimwock Tulku Rinpoche has recently
taken up the position of Jamchen’s resident teacher.

one of the best gifts one can receive from a great master
